ME 370 is the first course in Mechanical Design taught to Mechanical Engineering students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It focuses on studying the kinematics and dynamics of machinery using principles from solid mechanics. I had the pleasure of developing material for and teaching the practical laboratory section of the course to Juniors in 2013. We leveraged a team project format and computer based design and simulation to solve real-world problems.
An example project was the design of a Transmission Tower to withstand operating loads and inclement weather while minimizing cost and weight.
